Commitment to Caring, Personal Service to Grieving Families Remains Unwavering Since Inception Over 100 Years Ago

(Deer Park, NY) For more than 100 years, the Mangano Family has supported local communities they serve through their Mangano Family Funeral Homes and Family Florist. The Mangano Family Foundation was founded in 2024 to continue the legacy of the late Barbara Mangano, a long-time leader of Mangano Family Funeral Homes.

Mangano Family Funeral Homes is proud to announce they have been named as one of Long Island’s Best Family-Owned Businesses by Long Island Business News. Mangano Family Funeral Homes joins a class of multi-generational businesses in hospitality, automotive, home and garden, law and more, each offering a history of demonstrating their ability to overcome major obstacles and each playing a role in our economic growth.

The story began in 1911 when founder Guy Mangano opened the first Brooklyn funeral parlor as a full-time funeral director in a storefront, seeing a need for people to mourn their loved ones apart from the home. The company established its Deer Park funeral home in 1960 and in the early 1960s, Guy’s sons, James and Guy Jr., joined the business. In 1965, Guy’s daughter, Barbara, joined the family business. Barbara’s son Sal F. Mangano, who now owns Mangano Family Funeral Homes, came aboard in 2000. The company purchased the Giove Funeral Home in Middle Island in 2012 and the Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead in 2015.

For more than 100 years, Mangano Family Funeral Homes has offered care and compassion to so many families in their time of need while also staying active in communities across Long Island, supporting many charitable causes and fraternal organizations. Pair that with the company’s ability to adapt to different methods, societal trends, products and technology while navigating several economic downtowns, makes them the ideal recipient for this recognition.

“I want to thank Long Island Business News for recognizing Mangano Family Funeral Homes as a Best Family-Owned Business on Long Island,” says Mangano Family Funeral Homes owner Sal Mangano. “This recognition is possible because of everyone who has been part of our organization throughout the years. My grandfather Guy and my mother Barbara would be extremely proud of this honor and our commitment to serving families with the same level of compassion and service that has defined us since the beginning.”
